Michael A. Smerconish is the host of "The Michael Smerconish Program" on SiriusXM, the host of CNN’s Smerconish on Saturday mornings, a newspaper columnist and an author. He was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania and graduated from Central Bucks High School West. He graduated from Lehigh University and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. In the early 1990s, Smerconish was regional administrator and federal housing commissioner with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He worked at radio station WWDB in the 90s as a political analyst and radio host. In 1997 he began hosting an afternoon radio show on WPHT. Prior to turning to broadcasting, Smerconish practiced law for ten years with James E. Beasley, the legendary Philadelphia trial lawyer. He joined Kline & Specter in 2011 as of counsel attorney.
He is the author of seven books, two of them New York Times’ best sellers. His published books are: Flying Blind: How Political Correctness Continues to Compromise Airline Safety Post 9/11; Muzzled: From T-Ball to Terrorism, True Stories that Should Be Fiction (a Times best seller); Murdered By Mumia: A Life Sentence of Loss, Pain and Injustice (a Times best seller which he co-authored with Maureen Faulkner); Morning Drive: Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Talking; Instinct: The Man Who Stopped the 20th Hijacker; and TALK! (his first novel). Smerconish’ s latest book, Clowns to the Left of Me, Jokers to the Right: American Life in Columns, has garnered critical acclaim.
He has been a guest on virtually every television program where politics is discussed, including ABC's "The View," HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" and NBC's "Today Show."
